1) SGA Ice Skating Social at the Frog Pond

When: Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: Meet at the Atrium then Boston Commons Frog Pond
What: Want to get into the winter spirit? Join SGA at Boston Common's Frog Pond for an evening of ice skating! We will meet in the Atrium at the law school for some hot chocolate at 5:30pm and then head over by T to the Frog Pond at around 6:00pm. Admission is $6 and ice skate rentals are $12. Looking forward to seeing everyone out on the ice! 6) Admissions is Hiring!

Where: Admissions
What: The JD Admissions Office is looking to hire a Special Project Assistant for the spring semester ($13/hr, Work Study position). Applicants should be available to work at least six hours per week (preferably in two three-hour blocks during business hours), and have strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities will include coordinating outreach projects with admitted students, recruiting current student volunteers, and tracking communication efforts. On occasion the Special Project Assistant may also be asked to assist with campus tours, social media marketing, and/or admitted student Preview Days. If interested, please e-mail aliwatts@bu.edu by Friday, February 12th, with your resume and a brief description of your interest in the position. JD students from any class year are encouraged to apply.

8) 50th Anniversary of Griswold v. Connecticut

Where: Barrister's Hall
What: Join us for an important and timely discussion of how far women’s reproductive rights have come, and how much further we have to go. Professor Linda McClain will provide an introduction to the case itself, before leading a panel discussion with Professor James Fleming of BU Law and Professor Aziza Ahmed of Northeastern University School of Law. They will cover (1) the implications of the case in the history of women’s reproductive health, and (2) modern challenges including the limitations of the ACA in the provision of women’s reproductive health. This event is Co-Sponsored by the Women's Law Association, Health Law Association, and Law Students for Reproductive Justice. LUNCH WILL BE SERVED. Please arrive early or on time to get settled in.

9) Business & IP Attorney Panel

Come join the Business Law Society and the Intellectual Property Law Society to learn about the intersection of Business & IP law! There are a ton of amazing opportunities so come to this panel to learn about a few of them! Panelists include Pete Osborn from WilmerHale, Matt Bernsten from Fish & Richardson, Sandra Brown from McCarter & English, and Aaron Ahola from Akamai Technologies. 10) Immigration Law Career Panel

Where: Barrister's Hall
What: The Immigration Law and Policy Society, with the support of the CDO, is hosting an Immigration Law Career Panel TOMORROW (Tuesday) in Barrister’s Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The event is designed to raise awareness about immigration law opportunities in the Boston area as well as discuss interactions between firms and public interest organizations. Panelists include Isabelle Farrar, head of the pro bono asylum program at Ropes & Gray’s Boston office, David McHaffey, founder and managing partner of McHaffey & Associates, representatives from the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project and the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition, and the founder of the BU Law Division of the International Refugee Assistance Program. There will be (catered) food and refreshments for all who attend. Dress code is business casual. Please RSVP as soon as possible by e-mailing buimmigrationlawpolicysociety@gmail.com . 11) PIP Valentine's Day Cupcake Wars

When: From Wednesday, February 10, 2016, 10:00 AM to Thursday, February 11, 2016, 4:00 PM
Where: 2nd Floor tables
What: PIP will be hosting its annual Valentine's Day Cupcake Wars on Wednesday, February 10th and Thursday, February 11th. Students, faculty, and staff will bake a batch of their most delicious and decorative cupcakes. Each cupcake is taste-tested and judged on appearance by a panel including deans and professors. As usual, PIP sells the cupcakes to raise money for students' summer grants! It's a really fun competition, and one of our most popular fundraising events of the year!

13) Unofficial Knitting and Crafts Group

Where: Room 209
What: Once again, the unofficial knitting and crafting group is meeting Tuesday the 23rd, from 4-5pm in room 209. There will be coloring books and colored pencils, and some extra yarn for those who want to learn knitting or crochet. Feel free to bring whatever project you are working on, or to just come by and hang out!

14) Mindfulness Workshop: Decrease Stress and Increase Academic and Professional Success

When: Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Where: LAW 410
What: Mindfulness involves cultivating the capacity to ‘attend to’ the situation at hand in ways that are purposeful and well-balanced. By increasing your ability to be ‘in the present moment’ it releases the mind from habitual, ruminative patterns that lead to worry, fragmentation and burn-out, and enables more intuitive, productive and creative responses to new challenges. In this workshop you will learn about mindfulness, why it works, and practice mindfulness skills you can utilize daily. Session led by Katherine Cunningham, Behavioral Medicine. Part of the Live Well, Learn Well 2016 Challenge

16) February Community Affairs Council Meeting

What: This month's Community Affairs Council (CAC) meeting is on February 18 at 1 PM in room 410. This month's CAC meeting is focusing on diversity issues on campus. Like every CAC meeting, this meeting will be an open-forum for students to voice their opinions, concerns, and comments regarding diversity on our law campus. By having a student run meeting, SGA hopes to create a safe space for students to voice their opinions free from any stigma or consequences from the administration. Pizza will be provided.
