What: In following up with the coffee house, follies, and contraband performances, SGA would like to survey the student body to see how they feel about additional events involving the arts. 2) CAC Meeting--SGA Election Information Session!

Who: Student Government Association
When: Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Where: RM 203
What: In addition to follow up on student comments and concerns, this months's CAC meeting will discuss SGA elections for the 2016-2017 school year. Elections for President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, 3L Reps and 2L Reps will be taking place on Tuesday, April 5th and Wednesday, April 6th. For more information on what these positions entail and the elections process please attend the March CAC meeting on March 17th at 1pm in Room 203. The required paperwork to run will also be distributed at this time. If you have any questions in the interim, email sgalaw@bu.edu.

3) Bar Review at Clery's!

4) First Preview Day Announcements!

When: Friday, March 18, 2016 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Where: BU School of Law & Cornwalls
What: BU School of Law will be hosting the first of two Admitted Students Preview Days this coming Friday. Due to this event, the café will be closed for seating Friday March 18 for the Preview Day from 11 am to 1 pm for the Admitted Student Preview Day. It will be open for food purchase regular hours. There will be a mixer after the days events that ALL STUDENTS are welcome to come to, light snacks will be provided. We hope to see you all at the mixer afterwards!!

5) Law Prom 2016: A Night at the Aquarium

When: From Saturday, March 19, 2016, 8:00 PM to Sunday, March 20, 2016, 12:00 AM
Where: New England Aquarium; 1 Central Wharf Boston, MA 02110
What: LAW PROM 2016 IS OFFICIALLY SOLD OUT!! If you do not have a ticket and wish to attend please continue to check the Facebook pages as some students may change their plans last minute. For the night of the event, please bring a government issued ID. Coat check will be provided. Doors open at 8pm, no guests will be allowed into the Aquarium after 9pm. Light food will be served at 8:45pm, and bars will close at 11:30pm. A more detailed email will be disseminated later this week.

6) Bar Review at T's Pub!

7) WLA Eboard Elections

What: WLA is hosting its elections today in room 204. Anyone who has attended three WLA events including our first general meeting can vote. 8) Litigating allegations of institutional racism: Understanding the work of the Brookline Justice League

Where: LAW room 204
What: BU Law alumnus, Brooks Averell Ames, principal and founder of the Brookline Justice League, will present on his work addressing allegations of systemic racism in government entities in Brookline. The Brookline Justice League is considering providing pro bono and externship opportunities for BU Law students; attending this session will offer insight into the work and the challenges of litigating matters with multiple plaintiffs against government entities.

9) UVA Softball Tournament

When: From Tuesday, March 15, 2016, 1:00 AM to Friday, March 18, 2016, 1:00 AM
Where: Charlottesville, VA
What: This is the LAST WEEK to buy tickets for the UVA Softball Tournament this upcoming April 7-10. Tickets are $249.50 each and no softball experience is necessary. Tickets will be sold until the day of the event (unless we sell out), but only those who purchase tickets by March 18th will be guaranteed a custom jersey. 10) PIP's St. Patrick's Day Cupcake Wars

When: From Wednesday, March 16, 2016, 10:00 AM to Thursday, March 17, 2016, 4:00 PM
Where: 2nd floor commons
What: PIP will be hosting its annual St. Patrick's Day Cupcake Wars on Wednesday, March 16th and Thursday, March 17th. Students will bake a batch of their most delicious and decorative cupcakes. Each cupcake is taste-tested and judged on appearance by a panel including deans and professors. As usual, PIP sells the cupcakes to raise money for students' summer grants! Cupcakes are $3 each or 2 for $5.

11) HLA Firm Visit @ Ropes & Gray

When: Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM
Where: Ropes & Gray @ Prudential Tower
What: HLA is fortunate to have secured Ropes & Gray, the top law firm in Boston with a dedicated health law practice to host a firm visit. This is a great opportunity to network, and interact with attorneys at their home base. If you would like to sign up, please email Yelena@bu.edu, and we will add you to the spreadsheet. For anyone already signed up, please note the change in time to 5:30pm-7:30pm. The event has been pushed back an hour, but we actually get more time for the event now. 12) HLA Community Service Trip (good for PIP community service hrs!)

When: Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM
Where: Boomerangs, West Roxbury
What: Need PIP community service hours? HLA is hosting a community service trip to Boomerangs on Saturday, March 19, from 1:00-3:30. Boomerangs is a thrift shop that provides funding to AIDS Action Committee's work on preventing new HIV infections and improving the lives of those living with HIV. For more information about Boomerangs and AIDS Action, check out:http://action.aac.org/site/PageServer?pagename=boom_home. 13) HLA Charity Event (potentially PIP hours)

Where: Boomerangs
What: HLA Charity Event: Saturday, March 19 from 1-3:30pm AND Saturday, April 2 from 1-3pm Need PIP community service hours? HLA is hosting TWO opportunities to participate in community service trips to Boomerangs. Boomerangs is a thrift shop that provides funding to AIDS Action Committee's work on preventing new HIV infections and improving the lives of those living with HIV. Where: BU School of Law
What: Please consider completing a survey for Phil Berenz in Law IT in support of a conference presentation he will give later next month. His research seeks to compare current students with faculty and staff to see if trends exist that may suggest connections between student behavior now and workplace behavior later. The survey is anonymous and participation is voluntary. To show appreciation, survey participants will have a chance to win one of four prizes: a 1-year subscription to Netflix (one winner) or $25 gift card of your choice from Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, or other stores to be determined later (three winners). 16) Legacy Series-The Right to Protest

When: Monday, March 21, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Where: 410
What: Thousands of people are consistently taking to the streets to participate in direct action on various issues. Join Student Affairs and the BU-NLG to discuss the right to protest and what it means to exercise that right as a law student and attorney. Guest speaker Oren Nimni will lead the discussion. Oren Nimni is a criminal defense and employment attorney in Boston. He is chair of The United People of Color Caucus (TUPOCC) of the National Lawyers' Guild (NLG) and serves on the steering committee for Law for Black Lives. He works with a number of movements and community organizations in Boston and has defended activists from arrests stemming from their political activities.

18) HLA Elections -- submit statements of interest by March 16!

What: HLA Elections will be held Tuesday, March 22nd from 4:30-5:30pm (Room 203) with snacks! If you are interested in running for one of the six HLA board positions, please send a short statement about yourself and your interest to buslhealthlaw@gmail.com by Wednesday, March 16th. The statement should explain how you would enhance the HLA board and community. E-board members should be: highly accountable, team players, highly organized, able to coordinate multiple tasks among different people, professional and project-oriented. Statements should indicate how you would demonstrate these qualities and apply them to developing HLA programs for next year that enhance the HLA community. The statements will be printed for people to review during elections.
