2) Community Affairs ("CA") Meeting

Who: Student Government Association
When: Wednesday, March 01, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Where: BUSL, Room 410
What: March's Community Affair meeting will be on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 1:00pm in room 410. This month's Community Affairs meeting will be focused on new groups seeking formal recognition from SGA. This meeting is mandatory for current student organization leaders and is strongly encouraged for the general student body to see how group recognition functions. In addition, we will be introducing the new SGA Executive Board! There will be food and dessert!

3) SGA/LLM Bar Review at Beat Brasserie in Cambridge!

What: This week's bar review was planned by our very own SGA LLM Rep, Sara Hoyos Suarez! Beat Brasserie (aka Beat Hôtel) has quickly become a Boston favorite, located in the heart of Harvard Square. The bar features music by cutting edge musicians in jazz, blues, funk, R&B and world music, bringing eclectic artistry to the stage in Cambridge! This class will get you comfortable with statutes, pocket parts, updating pamphlets, indexes and tables and give you the confidence to perform this low-cost legal research with ease. 5) The Truth about Solitary Confinement in MA

Where: Boston University School of Law - Room 203
What: "The Box" "DDU" "The Can" "The Shoe" "The Dungeon" Solitary confinement goes by many names, but most people do not know the truth about the harmful effects of this all too common practice in prisons across the United States. Join us as we watch a short video and have a discussion about solitary confinement in Massachusetts. We will be joined by Attorney Lizz Matos from Prisoners' Legal Services who will share what PLS is doing to fight back against solitary confinement. 6) A Conversation with Stephen Karp

7) Election for SGA Secretary

What: Ian Gillen and Robyn Sablove, who are both running for SGA Secretary, will be available in the Law School Cafe on Monday, February 27 from 1pm-2pm if you would like to speak to them about their platforms/ideas or if you would like to ask them questions about the Secretary position in SGA.

8) HLA E-board Election

What: We will be electing the 2017-2018 Executive Board for Health Law Association! Come run for a position or vote for someone. 9) Summer Interview Programs CDO and Student Panel

When: Monday, February 27, 2017 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM
Where: Room 204
What: This student panel is geared toward 1Ls interested in pursuing summer jobs in IP through the various interview programs in which law students participate after their 1L year. We hold this event so early in the year because the registration deadline for the Loyola Patent Law Interview Program (PLIP) is over Spring Break (Thurs. Mar. 10). An advisor from the CDO will explain the bidding and interview process for PLIP, OCI, and other off campus programs, followed by a student panel of 2Ls and 3Ls. The student panel will describe their experience with these interview programs and give general tips/answer questions. Non-patent focused students are encouraged to attend as well since the OCI process applies to everyone.

10) Otto's Night with PIP

What: BU Law's Public Interest Project is partnering with Otto Pizza for a fundraiser! Otto is donating a percentage of its profits earned between 5 and 9 pm that evening to support PIP. This includes dine-in, takeout, merchandise, and gift card sales. All donations go directly to funding grants for your fellow law students working in unpaid public interest internships this summer. 13) EELS Winter Warmer

When: Thursday, March 02, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Where: Barrister's Hall
What: The Energy and Environmental Law Society is hosting a Winter Warmer next week, on Thursday March 2nd, from 6:00-8:00pm, in Barrister's Hall. It is a round-robin style networking event, where current BUSL students who are interested in environmental or energy law can meet with several BUSL alumni who are environmental and energy law attorneys working in and around Boston. The practicing attorneys will move from table to table, so that each table of students gets ten minutes or so with a pair of attorneys. This will be about an hour, and there will be an informal reception for an hour afterwards. This is a great opportunity to practice your networking skills, and to meet fellow BUSL community members who practice in energy and environmental law. CDO and Themis are co-sponsoring the event! Dress code is business casual. A sweater or a suit jacket is always appropriate.
