4) Immigration Law and Policy Society E-Board ELECTIONS

When: Monday, March 27, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Where: Room 203
What: The Immigration Law and Policy Society at BU Law is hosting Executive Board Elections for the 2017-2018 academic year on Monday March 27th. We encourage every law student who has attended at least one event to run for a position. We will be electing students for 4 different positions (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary). Please keep in mind that you may run for multiple positions. This is a great opportunity to add another line to your resume and, more importantly, to take a leadership role in a campus group at a very important time for immigration law. You're welcome and encouraged to come even if you aren't running for a position. For those interested in being on the Board, please email buimmigrationlawpolicysociety.gmail.com with your full name and the position you will be running for by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 22nd. Please be prepared to share a short statement as to why you would like to run for that position. If you cannot make the meeting but would still like to run for a position please send us a short statement. There will be food and refreshments for all who attend.

9) Annual PIP Gala

Where: Metcalf Ballroom, GSU
What: The 26th Annual PIP Gala will take place on Thursday, March 30th, from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. in the Metcalf Ballroom of the George Sherman Student Union. The Gala will feature an open bar, lots of hors d'ouvres, networking with attorneys, incredible items to bid on (including weekend getaways, experiences with professors, etc.) and also lots of balloon prizes! All money raised benefits PIP's work of providing summer grants to students working in public interest. 10) IRAP Bake Sale

Where: McClausland Commons
What: The BU Law chapter of the International Refugee Assistance Project will host a bake sale to raise funds for one of our client's medical exams. It is a pricy procedure that he cannot afford on his own, so we are hoping to raise $350 to cover this expense for him. Come buy some baked goods to support one of our clients! What is IRAP? IRAP is a U.S.-based non-profit that utilizes a model of law school chapters to take on cases of refugees and asylum seekers abroad. Groups of students partner with attorneys to represent these individuals. The BU Chapter currently has four cases as well as a policy team that organizes events to support our clients and raise awareness of the issues refugees face.

13) Legacy Series Film Screening of 13th

14) Energy and Environmental Law Society Elections

Where: Room 204
What: The Energy and Environmental Law Society will have its executive board elections for the 2017-2018 academic year on Wednesday April 5th, from 4:00-4:40pm in room 204. We will have a few minutes at the start for candidates to talk about what positions they are interested in. We encourage every law student who has attended at least one event to run for a position. The four available positions are President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Candidates may run for multiple positions. This is a great way to meet energy and/or environmental law attorneys in the Boston area, to build your network, and to learn what jobs are available to you. You are welcome to come to the election even if you aren't running for a position. For those who are interested in running for a position but have not yet contacted the current Board, please feel free to send an email to rwatsky@bu.edu with your name and the position you are interested in running for. Please be prepared to speak for a few minutes at the start of the elections about why you want to run for a position. If you cannot make the meeting but would still like to run, please email us a short statement. There will be food and (nonalcoholic) drinks at the elections.

15) First Year Journal Preview Fair

Where: Law Auditorium
What: Dear Class of 2019: There will be a Journal Preview Fair on April 5 from 5:15 to 7:00 PM to introduce the 1Ls to BU's six student-run law journals and to discuss the writing competition. From 5:15 PM to 6:00 PM there will be a mandatory information session in the Law Auditorium and from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM there will an informal, optional, meet-and-greet in each of the journal offices (dinner will be provided). Anybody unable to attend the information session should contact Garrett Miller directly at gamiller@bu.edu.

16) American Constitution Society Executive Board Elections

What: The American Constitution Society will be holding e-Board elections for the upcoming 2017-18 school year on Thursday, April 6th to fill the positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to be involved as a student leader and would like to show future employers that they possess strong leadership qualities. More importantly, this is a prime opportunity for any law student who is passionate about forming discussions, dialogues, and debates that help contribute to a progressive vision of our Constitution and laws, especially as we endure a Trump presidency that exhibits open hostility towards our judiciary, as well as other values and institutions. 17) The Max M. Shapiro Lecture, Presented by Peter McCausland ('74) and Daniel Neff

When: Thursday, April 06, 2017 from 12:45 PM to 2:00 PM
Where: Room 102
What: Bidders and Targets, Directors, Shareholder and Advisors in Takeover Battles: When Does Zealous Advocacy Cross the Line? Airgas, the industrial gas company that Peter McCausland founded in 1982, faced a hostile takeover bid in 2010 from Air Products. The two Pennsylvania companies eventually went to court, where Mr. McCausland triumphed in his bid to retain control of Airgas. In 2016, he sold Airgas to Paris-based L’Air Liquide for double the amount that Air Products had offered six years earlier. Mr. McCausland will review the storyline of Airgas’ hostile takeover bid from Air Products and Daniel A. Neff will outline the legal framework that was used to win their case. All professors, law students, graduate students, undergraduates, alumni and the general public are welcome to attend the lecture.
