What: SGA will not be holding office hours until September 18th. The E-Board will try to be in the office when possible, but if you need anything (like renting sports equipment or have questions about a nomination form), please e-mail us and we will set up a time to meet you.

2) Sports Equipment!

What: Is it beautiful outside? Need a break from the library? Rent sports equipment for free from the SGA office. All you need is some friends and a form of ID. We have football, volleyball, spike ball, frisbees, jump rope, hula hoops, and more!

3) Community Affairs Meeting

What: The Community Affairs meeting is a space to gather and address the issues impacting the Boston University School of Law community of students, faculty, staff, and administration. 5) BU Law Field Day - Section Competition Kick Off

Where: Fit Rec (4th Floor Basketball Courts) & Sunset Cantina
What: Come celebrate the kick-off of section competitions at BU Law Field Day at FitRec at 2pm on Sunday, September 10! This year, sections across all years will be competing for a coveted trophy and unlimited bragging rights. At 5:30, we will be hosting trivia @ Sunset Cantina. There will be an unlimited Taco Bar for first 40 people to arrive at Sunset! Please see the member of SGA at the entrance. 8) Apple Picking

When: From Friday, September 15, 2017, 1:00 AM to Friday, September 29, 2017, 1:00 AM
Where: Honey Pot Hill Orchards
What: Our annual apple picking event is here!Tickets are $12 per student and $17 per guest and include: the bus ride to and from Honey Pot Hill Orchards, a 1/2 peck picking bag for you to fill while you pick (one bag holds approx. 10-12 apples), entrance to the Orchard's Mini-Green Monster Hedge Maze, a hayride, a plain caramel apple, a cider donut AND a 16 oz. Apple Cider Guzzler! Buses will board at 2:15 PM outside the law school and will leave promptly at 2:30 PM for Honey Pot Hill Orchards. We will depart from Honey Pot Hill Orchards at 5:30 PM and will arrive back at the law school at approximately 6:30 PM. 9) Boat Cruise

What: Get excited for BU Law's Annual Harbor Cruise! The event will take place on September 16, 2016 at 6:45 p.m, ticket collection starts at 6:30pm. Tickets are sold online through Eventbrite. What: THURGOOD spans Justice Thurgood Marshall’s impressive career as a lawyer, arguing such landmark cases as Brown v. Board of Education, and a remarkable tribute to Marshall’s enduring legacy as the first African-American to sit on the Supreme Court. Seating is first come, first serve. Doors open at 3:45pm. 13) Coffee and the BU Arts Initiative

What: Dean O'Rourke provides everyone in the law community with the opportunity to get a cup of free coffee on Wednesday mornings before 11am. 16) Ice Cream (with a side of Citizenship)

What: Dean Muir and Public Service & Pro Bono Director Carolyn Goodwin will be giving free pocket Constitutions to BU Law students who can answer questions on the U.S. Constitution and the Citizenship test. This promotion will be during the Ice Cream Social sponsored by Dean O'Rourke, and will have information on the Sept. 11th "Project Citizenship" training hosted with PROJECT CITIZENSHIP for Constitution Day. From 1-2pm on Sept. 11th, students will receive training on the immigration and naturalization process, and volunteers will be solicited for the Citizenship Day event on Sept. 23rd, where BU Law will join legal volunteers from across the state to assist immigrants with their applications for naturalization and citizenship. 18) Trade Law in the Trump Era: A Transatlantic Perspective

Where: Barristers Hall
What: What are the prospects for multilateral trade law and for megaregional agreements such as the TTIP in the Trump era? Are existing tools in international economic law sufficient to address popular grievances and issues of global justice? In the context of U.S. policy discourse, what similarities and what differences characterize the Trump- and Sanders-esque critiques of trade and globalism? And on the other side of the Atlantic, what is the significance of Brexit and other anti-EU movements? This conference will address these questions as scholars from local law schools and others gather to debate the impact of the Trump Era policies on the global economy.

19) Academic Enrichment Program (AEP) Friday Fundamentals: The Science of Learning in Law School

24) Project Citizenship: facilitating immigration and naturalization

When: Monday, September 11, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Where: Room 103
What: BU Law and Project Citizenship come together to train students on the US citizenship application process. Then, on September 23rd, we'll join lawyers and volunteers from across the state at the Reggie Lewis Track Center to help hundreds of people through the citizenship process. Learn some of the nuts-and-bolts of the immigration process, and contribute to the successful implementation for our newest citizens. Sponsored by the Pro Bono Program and the Student Affairs Office.

29) DACA Phone-a-thon

Where: Room 211
What: Open to all in the BU Law Community: After the recent decision regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals initiative (DACA) several student affinity groups wanted to provide a space for those in the law school community to take action, and encourage elected representatives, state AGs, and other organizations to work together to protect Dreamers. Please bring your laptop and/or cellphones. We will be helping people figure out who their elected representatives are, how to call/fax/reach out to the people and organizations that will have an effect on policy creation going forward, and provide an outlet to show solidarity for those who will be adversely impacted by the DACA decision. We will provide a document of resources for outreach upon request. We encourage everyone to stop by for however long they can to participate.

30) BU Law Teach-In: DACA Rescission - Understand and Engage

31) International Refugee Assistance Project Info Session

When: Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM
Where: Room 204
What: The International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) organizes law students and attorneys to provide legal representation to refugees seeking resettlement. As volunteers, students have the opportunity to participate in one of three different programs within IRAP. Students assigned to cases, directly represent refugees in their applications for resettlement to the United States, under the supervision of licensed attorneys. Students participating in the intake program, conduct intake interviews with refugees who have reached out to IRAP for assistance to determine if IRAP can take their case. Students may also participate in the policy team to advocate for policy initiatives benefitting refugees in the United States. 32) A symposium in honor of Larry Yackle

Where: Barristers Hall
What: A symposium in honor of Larry Yackle. The federal courts have long been asked to address fundamental questions about the American political system. The current divisive political climate presents special challenges. In this symposium, noted specialists will discuss illustrations in the fields of constitutional law, civil rights, and immigration policy. Please stop by Barristers Hall for panels and refreshments.

33) Continuing Orientation- Mandatory for all 1Ls

When: Friday, September 15, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM
Where: Law Auditorium
What: Attendance will be taken for the mandatory 1L Continuing Orientation. Check-in at the Law Auditorium begins at 1pm. The orientation will cover faculty perspectives, outlining, support networks, and meeting your student advisors!
